In yoruba Ori(Head) is considered to be a vital part of who we are both spiritually and physically. It's often spoken to in form of proverbs and the one that came to my mind in particular while making this art goes as thus: 'Ori mi apere, gbemi de ibi ire, Ori mi ma ta ko mi lona aluyo mi' Its a prayer proverbs which tells the head to lead us to a greater place and not to stop us from reaching our goal. From there this little poem came out: Ori the small deity of the body. Ori the beginning of all senses. Ori the maker of spiritual path. I hold unto you to lead me to a greater place. Read more
