"Tide is Out..." by Richard F. Yates (HF)

Creator: @richardfyates
[Sharpie on reclaimed cardboard with digital embellishments and color.] The trip we took to the Oregon Coast ("we" = my wife, my younger daughter, and ME) was both fun and stressful. I love LOOKING at the beach---but I'm old and broken, though, so WALKING on the beach is a painful proposition. The weather was nice (cloudy and drizzly, which people from the Pacific Northwest like), but there were WAY TOO MANY PEOPLE, considering we are in the middle of a global pandemic. But WE (Mariah and Elise and ME) were also there, although we were wearing masks and had hand sanitizer in our pockets and tried to stay as far away from humans as possible (now that I think about it, other than the MASKS, this is how I NORMALLY go to the beach), but not everyone was participating in the same pandemic that we were. This drawing, made while sitting in a chair staring at the water, reflects my excitement and pain and social anxiety and germ-o-phobia and my attempt to make all of those things PURDY. Did it work??? (I like it...) ---Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool)
