Bastet the Lion or Cat Goddess

Creator: @akida
Bastet or Bast is an Ancient Egyptian name for one of the well-known goddess of ancient Egyptian. Her name also is rendered as B'sst, Baast, Ubaste and Baset. In ancient Greek times, she was known as Ailuros what means simple "cat". Bastet was worshipped in Bubastis in Lower Egypt. Original Bastet was not a cat, she was a lioness goddess, a role shared by other deities such as Sekhmet. But after a while bast was the cat and Sekhmet the lion. Eventually Bastet and Sekhmet were characterized as two aspects of the same goddess, some wrote that Sekhmet was the darker character of Bastet. Sekhmet was the fighter, warrior and also goddess of War, if I remember right. Sekhmet representing the powerful warrior and protector aspect and Bastet, who increasingly was depicted as a cat, representing a gentler and softer characteristic aspect. In Egyptian mythology, Sekhmet or Sachmis is also spelled Sakhmet, Sekhet, Sakhet, or Scheme, and a lot of other spellings. Just wanted to name some. Sekhmet is a warrior goddess as well as a goddess of healing. A healing warrior you could say. She is depicted as a lioness. In ancient times this character was seen as the protector of the pharaohs and led them in warfare. Upon death, Sekhmet continued to protect them, bearing them to the afterlife. This is the second painting (after I digitalised it) of my 3rd Collection. Step by step vid is a extra hidden file in my NFT.
